Rants! are where I post companies, policies or things that I would never recommend, accept without a fight or believe to be contrary to truthfulness.

3-Day Blinds have lost my business forever.  I'll never purchase another product from them.

3-Day Blinds - This company is one I worked for at the turn of the century.  I loved their products at that time.  My whole house is full of 3-Day Blind window coverings.  But times have changed.

My blinds are in beautiful condition, but they are getting up in years, so the strings that pull the cell shades are beginning to need replacement.  The first time it happened was about a year ago.  I went into my local 3-Day Blinds store and they restrung my cell shade on the spot and did not charge me.  WOW! That was nice!

Then this year... my 2" Transitions "lightless" wood blind had a ladder string break.  The sad tale of frustration begins here...

March 2010 - I tried finding a 3-Day Blinds location and they were almost all gone!  So I called the nearest one and it was 50 miles away.  I could live with that part, I drive 50 miles one-way to work anyway.  No big deal.

I called and asked if they could repair my 2" Transitions "lightless" wood blind ladder string.  To my surprise, they told me they don't repair their products anymore at the "Consultive" locations.  I was told to call the corporate offices in California.

I called them and they wanted $57 to repair "anything" and I would have to pay the shipping over and back.  I was shocked!  I only needed the string ladder, I could fix it myself.  So I talked them into sending me the string.  I gave them the appropriate length and discription and my credit card for $6.

I shortened up the blinds and suffered a 4" gap at the bottom.

April 2010 - No string yet....  So my husband called.  Sorry was all they could say, they had misplaced the order.

May 2010 - The package arrives... Its a pull cord for the blind, not the ladder string.  We are not happy.  My dear spouse calls again.  Sorry was all they could say, they would get the ladder string shipped out immediately.

June 2010 - Still no ladder string...  Hubby calls again and is quite expressive in his displeasure.  They check on it.  It is sitting in the shipping department - on hold - because they couldn't understand the address.  No one bothered to get it cleared up, they just had shoved it aside.  They promise to ship it.  They say its the right string.

July 2010 - The package arives...  Its a ladder string for a 2" regular wood blind for blind slats that have guide holes in them.  This won't work for my blinds.

I'm exhausted with this company.  I've got 4" of summer heat coming through my bedroom window and daylight before I'm ready to awake.  I decide never to deal with 3-Day Blinds again.

I call CJ's Shutter Fix, LLC.  CJ gets the gist of my issues, comes out at no charge and examines the ladder string that I need.  He says he'll try and track some down.  He gives me his minimum charge and explains his pricing for repairs.   The cost would be approximately somewhat less that what it would cost for me to deal with 3-Day Blinds and I didn't have to go to the trouble of shipping.

I received an email to confirm my first appointment and then daily updates on the search for the ladder string.  CJ was able to find a source in Tucson.  He picked it up and then we set another appointment.

He was on-time, curteous and most important, had the correct ladder string!  Not just one, but two, so not only did the broken side get fixed, both sides were fixed.

I didn't spend as much as it would have cost to deal with 3-Day Blinds and CJ's Shutter Fix, LLC. got the job done.  I highly recommend his work and will use his services again.
